5. Apply Filter Cleaner Solution

Fill a large bucket with water and add the recommended amount of Filter Cleaner. Submerge the cartridge in the solution and let it soak for the amount of time specified by the cleaner’s instructions, typically overnight. This step is essential in breaking down oils and finer particles lodged in the filter.

6. Brush and Rinse Again

After soaking, use a soft brush to gently scrub the pleats of the cartridge. Focus on areas that still appear dirty. Once brushed, give the cartridge another thorough rinse with your garden hose, again using a moderate water flow and 45-degree angle, ensuring all cleaner and debris are washed away.

7. Inspect the Cartridge

Check for any signs of damage such as tears or excessive wear. If the cartridge is damaged, it’s time to replace it. A well-maintained cartridge should last between one to two years.

8. Reassemble and Restart

Once the cartridge is clean and inspected, place it back into the filter housing, secure it properly, and turn the pool pump back on.
